Our October featured artist of the month is CHANÉ
CHANÉ is a South African musician, singer, songwriter and artist born in Cape Town, in the Western Cape. She has been writing songs since she was nine years old, but only started pursuing a professional music career in 2019. When she is not busy writing songs and recording, she enjoys painting and drawing as a freelance artist, helps with praise and worship initiatives at several churches locally and abroad, and performs live music at events, restaurants, weddings, and markets.
CHANÉ was born in Cape Town but grew up in East London and Worcester, while also travelling in between with missionary and ministry programmes. Both her parents are pastors, and she grew up in a Christian home. She is currently studying a Degree in Ministry. Her talent was discovered and nurtured from a very young age, and she decided early on that she wanted to share this incredible gift with all. She has obtained several music qualifications over the years, including a grade 7 certificate in Classical Guitar from Trinity College, among other Trinity Grades. In January of 2021, her first official radio single, Speak, was released. This captivating single was produced by the production house, StoneBear & Mayor Records and mastered in New York at one of the most prestigious studios in the world, Sterling Sound, by the brilliant mastering Engineer, Randy Merril. He is also responsible for the mastering of the music of some of Adele, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Harry Styles, Imagine Dragons, and many others. This Christian pop artist is best known for her EP, Who Am I, an international sensation. Reaching over 50 stations in countries world-wide, including Netherlands, Italy, England, Mexico, Namibia, Brazil and the United States.
CHANÉ’s ability to connect with her audience has been well-documented. It’s helped make her music relatable and given her soulful, authentic, vocal power a worldwide audience. The singer shares that she loves a wide variety of music and draws inspiration from artists like Lauren Daigle, Kari Jobe, and Leon Bridges. She draws inspiration for her music from her relationship with God alongside personal testimony: “Music is truly the universal language, and when applied with the truth it can set you free” If she had to choose a different career, she would have loved to be a freelance artist living under the mountains and stars. “I find a lot of peace in art and nature, so I always had this romantic fantasy of living in a little run-down cottage painting my days away by candlelight” she explains.
CHANÉ believes that music is able to speak where words fail and aims to reach as many people through her songs as possible. She also wants to pioneer a new sound in the music industry.
