Our December featured artist of the month is Joy Dame!
Growing up in Michigan, Joy dreamed of writing and singing Christian music and was involved in anything music possible growing up. Joy began writing poetry and singing whenever she could, but then as a teen, God tugged on her heart about Europe. After Bible school, she and her husband moved to France to serve as missionaries. There God further formed her as a worship leader and songwriter through the pain of loss, joy of healing and her passion for reaching others with the gospel and encouragement in song. Her ministry in the U.S and oversees has involved Productions and Concerts in schools, prisons, camps and social events. She and her husband and three boys now live in Florida. Some of her favorite ministry moments are being able to reach those who usually wouldn't listen to the truth of Scripture with a song and helping to lead worship in her church. She writes out of a passion for Jesus and worship and a burden for a broken world. "Without a Loving Gracious Savior, I would have nothing and I am nothing. Anything good that comes from my lips or my pen was not really mine to begin with" Joy says. She enjoys writing songs for other artists and frequents Nashville to do so as well as helping form writing groups for indie artists' releases online and through the songwriter retreats she leads with Lake City Lights.
Influenced by pop, soul, gospel, and CHH, Joy is a Tampa-based artist and songwriter. A soloist and actress blessed to tour NYC, Paris, Sydney, and Barcelona, after Bible college she was burdened to share the gospel through songwriting while living as a missionary in France. Now a worship leader & indie artist who's led alongside Avalon's Jody McBrayer, Charles Billingsley and Elevation Worship 's Brad Hudson and Chris Kuti. Joy's heart for worship combined with love for chh, r&b, pop, and gospel blends in songs like “Whole”. Her ideal style of some coming releases patterns Forrest Frank and Maverick City Music 's No Longer Bound (I'm Free). Joy is the winner of songwriting competition from Nashville's Full Circle Music with Sony's Seth Mosley and X O'Conner, WVIU radio "Contemporary Song of the Year", and currently 2024 nominated for "International Song of the Year" with Atlanta's Gospel Choice's Music Awards and Tenessee's Red Letter Awards "Kingdom Song" of the year. Joy mentors other songwriters and her co-written songs under various artists have been streamed and shared over 300k times in the past year.
